Hyperspectral cameras have many applications in the forensic field. By acquiring a hyperspectral dataset, the researcher can analyze a scene at tens, hundreds or thousands of different wavelengths to extract information that might not normally be visible to the human eye.
Below is an example of a check that has been altered to change the amount and the payee. In visible light, both inks look black, but in the infrared, you can clearly see that one ink is different than the other.
